The Geelong cats are one of the renowned football club based in Australia. The Geelong club was introduced in 1859 and is the oldest football club after Melbourne. Proud history of cats
Geelong football club has a very proud history. Geelong cats won its first Victoria football association premiership in 1925 and were the first club to achieve this premiership outside Melbourne. 1950 is considered as the most successful era in the history of Geelong club as it won the premiership flags in 1951and 1952. During this period, the Geelong club grew rapidly. With the cooperation of dedicated and talented players, the club was able to win the grand finals of 1970.
In 2000 Geelong cats started finding way to succeed; in 2006 pre-season national Australia bank cup was won by Geelong cat club. The season 2007 was one of the most successful periods in the history of the club. They won fifteen games and lost just one game. In 2007, Geelong cats defeated Port Adelaide in the AFL grand finals by 119 points, breaking the records. During this year, they even defeated kangaroos by 106 points and were clearly on the top of the ladder to success. Defeating kangaroos was in second qualifying was their first winning and also defeated them in finals. Geelong cats also won various flags at various levels which include night cup, reserves, under 19 and VFA\VLF. This club was honored by various trophies including league premiership, night series premiership, McClelland trophy and wooden spoons.
